Grow: Why True Maturity Takes Time (and Process Matters) — Part 2

How to Grow and Actually Last

In Part 1 of 'Grow,' we established that true growth is a step-by-step process crucial for lasting success, far superior to fleeting quick maturity’, and we explored why growth is better than quick success — it’s the only way to build a life, a calling, and a character that lasts. We saw how jumping into maturity too soon can lead to burnout, compromise, or collapse.' Now, let's get practical. How do we intentionally cultivate this continuous advancement in our lives? Because growth doesn’t just happen It’s intentional. It's a discipline. It’s a choice you make — daily.

Why real maturity takes time

Key Principles and Practical Steps for Holistic Growth

1. Mindset for Growth:

A) Submit to the Process, Don’t Rush Past It (Patience & Perseverance)

Growth always has a process. Whether it’s mastering a skill, developing emotional strength, deepening your faith, or preparing for leadership — there are no shortcuts.

Understand that growth is iterative, not linear. There will be ups and downs.

Resist the "get rich quick" mentality. Focus on consistent effort over time.

Ask Joseph again. He went from favored son to forgotten prisoner. But each stage was preparation. Every “delay” was development.

Don’t despise the process. God is doing deep work in hidden places.

B) Grow in Steps, Not Leaps

Big dreams are great — but don’t neglect small steps.

Break things down. Start with what you can manage. Celebrate little wins.

-You don’t have to be perfect to grow.

-You just have to be consistent.

True growth is incremental, not instant.

C) Build Internal Capacity

Want to grow for real?

Grow your mindset. Grow your patience. Grow your faith. Grow your discipline. Growth happens within before it shows outwardly. It starts with:

* Replacing fear with faith

* Choosing discipline over distraction

* Trusting God's timing over your own plan

2. Stay Rooted in God

True growth isn't just self-help — it's Spirit-led.

Spiritual growth is not instant. Like Joseph in the Bible, we must grow step-by-step. God wants you to grow in:

* Wisdom

* Obedience

* Spiritual maturity

* Purpose

Luke 2:52 — “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

If Jesus had to grow, so do we.

Stay rooted in God’s Word. Talk to Him. Involve Him in your growth.

3. Commit to Lifelong Learning

     * Read widely (books, articles).

     * Take courses (online, local).

     * Seek mentors and learn from experienced individuals.

     * Be curious about everything.

4. Intentional Action & Habit

Practical Habits to Help You Grow

-Set Intentional goals: Know where you’re headed, and track your progress. Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals.

-Stay accountable: Share your goals with a mentor or trusted friend.

-Be teachable: Growth comes through correction and feedback.

-Rest well: Don’t mistake burnout for growth.

-Reflect often: Journal, pray, and process what God is doing in you.

5. Prioritize Holistic Well-being

-Spiritual: Consistent time with God, prayer, scripture study.

-Mental: Rest, challenging your thinking, positive self-talk.

-Emotional: Emotional intelligence, stress management.

-Physical: Exercise, nutrition, sleep.

-Social: Nurturing healthy relationships

6. Embrace Challenges

A) Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

-Growth happens at the edge of your comfort zone.

-Take on new challenges, learn new skills, engage in difficult conversations.

B) Develop Resilience and Learn from Failure

     * View setbacks as learning opportunities, not end points.

     * Practice bouncing back stronger.

7. Embrace Humility and Teachability

-Be open to correction and new perspectives.

-Understand you don't know everything.

Areas in your life that you need to allow to grow

1. Your Income: Don't remain on a point for so long. Build it with reliable source. Don't rely on get rich quick schemes that will make you mature immediately. Take the time and pain to invest in yourself and grow.

2. Your Spiritual Life: To walk with God you need a progressive movement, not everyday at a spot. E.g. You could pray for 10mins today, tomorrow let increase to 20-25mins. Don't remain as a baby, grow even in your Christian Faith.

3. Your Mentality: Advance in life, know recent thing, don't remain in the old. The world is evolving, evolve with it. Don't be obsolete but be latest.

4. Your Academics: Don't remain on a level for so long, advance, there're a lot of short courses that can be done to improve yourself

5. Your Marriage: Your spouse/home should not remain the way you met him/her or it. Let there be improvement, for example you married with one chair and 3years down the line it's still one chair in the house- No, it's wrong.

You are not behind — you’re being built.

You are not stuck — you’re growing.

Keep showing up. Keep pressing in.

Let your roots go deep, so your future can stand tall.

Grow. Don’t rush it. Don’t fear it. Just trust it.

Growth is a continuous, intentional journey. Lasting fulfillment and true success come from embracing the process, step by step.

The journey of growth may not always be easy, but it’s the only path to a life of lasting purpose, impact, and true maturity. Start cultivating your growth today, and watch your life transform!

Don’t Just Arrive. Become.

The ultimate goal isn’t to arrive — it’s to become.

To become someone who is solid, grounded, prepared, and useful to God.

Growth is the only path to lasting maturity, and that maturity leads to favor, fruitfulness, and peace.

What you grow into, you can carry with grace.

What you jump into, you may drop under pressure.

Choose to Grow

Every day you grow, you invest in your future self.
Dont be afraid to start small, move slowly, or take the long road.
God is working in the process. Stay with Him.

James 1:4 – "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

Luke 2:52 – "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

WALKING IN GOD’S FAVOR — Part 2

10  Powerful Ways to Partner With God’s Favor In Part 1, we uncovered what God’s favor truly is: divine empowerment, unmerited kindness, and the unmistakable mark of God’s approval. You don’t stumble into favor—you step into it by faith.   Now that we understand the immense power of favor, you're probably asking: How can I access it in my own life? While favor is a gift, there are principles we can apply and a posture we can adopt to become magnets for blessing.
