Part 1: Sowing Today for a Harvest Tomorrow
Investment is more than just money. It’s the principle of committing resources—time, energy, skills, and faith—for a greater reward in the future. Unlike the “get-rich-quick” or “microwave” mentality of our world today, true investment requires patience and vision.
Investment is the employment of funds with the aim of achieving additional income or growth in value. The essential quality of an investment is that, it involves ‘waiting’ for a reward. It involves the commitment of resources which have been saved or put away from current consumption in the hope that some benefits will accrue in future.
At its core, investment means waiting. It’s the willingness to sacrifice immediate comfort for long-term gain. Whether in finances, relationships, studies, or faith—what you plant today is what you’ll harvest tomorrow.
God Has Already Invested in You
Every person carries something valuable inside. The Bible tells us in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25) that each servant was entrusted with resources according to their ability. This means God knows what you’re capable of—and He has already invested talent, gifts, and potential in you.
The question is not “what do you have?” but rather, “what will you do with what you have?” He calls and equips you to fulfil a certain purpose in this world. But some bury their potential out of fear of failure. But God expects us to use and grow what He’s placed in us.
God Protects His Investment (God’s is Faithful to His Investment).
God protects what He’s invested in you. Do we stumble? Yes. Do we sometimes disobey God? Yes. Does He discipline us? Yes. And your response to Him can either lengthen or shorten your season of discipline. But here’s the good news: God never abandons what He has invested in you. Romans 11:29 reminds us: “God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.”
Discipline may come, but it’s not to destroy you—it’s to refine you. God guards what He’s deposited in you until you are ready to multiply it.
God Expects a Return
At the end of our lives, each of us will give account for what we did with our time, talents, and treasures. What will you have to show? Are you using yours selfishly, or are you using them to serve Him and bless others?
2 Corinthians 5:10 says: “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
Investment is about stewardship. Your life is God’s investment. What return are you preparing to give Him? The call to invest isn’t a suggestion—it’s a spiritual necessity for every purpose-driven life.
