JUSTIFIED

Have you been Justified by Grace, through Faith? Have you been made "right" or "just" in the eyes of God?

Discovering Our Standing Before God Through Scripture

There is a notable difference between being "good enough" and being justified. For many of us, life can feel like a constant courtroom drama, where we are trying to prove our worth to ourselves, others, and, most significantly, to our Creator.

We strive for a "not guilty" verdict through our own efforts, yet we often find ourselves weighed down by the heavy evidence of our own imperfections.

The "spectacular news" of the Gospel is that being justified is not a reward for our performance, but a legal declaration by God. It is the "Great Exchange," in which our sin is traded for the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ.

In this post, we’re going to explore the bedrock of this hope by diving into the Bible verses that define what it means to be justified. From the peace found in Romans to the freedom declared in Galatians, these scriptures serve as our absolute assurance that we are no longer defined by our past, but by God's grace.

Let’s look at what the Word of God says about our new standing.

  • Romans 3:24 – "and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

  • Romans 5:1 – "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

  • Galatians 2:16 – "know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified."

  • Romans 5:9 – "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!"

  • Titus 3:7 – "so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

  • Romans 4:25 – "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."

  • 1 Corinthians 6:11 – "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

  • Galatians 3:24 – "So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith."

  • Romans 8:30 – "And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."

  • Romans 3:28 – "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law."
