How to cultivate a life lived "on the knees" through the discipline of prayer and consistent surrender.
Kneel in prayer for intention: Distraction and broken intentions plague us all. This is one reason Jesus taught his disciples to pray in secret, behind closed doors; He Himself frequently withdrew to pray (Luke 5:16). It's in quiet solitude where Christians can pray more easily, with uninterrupted intention. Even benefiting from the increased focus that comes with kneeling, and its rewards are like no other.
Kneel in prayer for the purpose of posture’s effect: kneeling in prayer has a way of connecting the body, heart, and mind. This is why a kneeling prayer posture is uniquely able to enforce intention, facilitate confession, and promote humility. All supporting an attitude of meekness (Matthew 5:5), weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and reverence (Hebrews 12:28).
Kneel in prayer, for Christ is King: Since Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16), the One to whom all authority has been given (Matthew 28:18), kneeling is a natural and appropriate response.
What a privilege it is to approach God’s accessible throne through Christ, who is seated at his side (Hebrews 10:12).
Knee and pray to understand the mystery of life and your life: The mystery of the cross, the mystery of love, can be understood in prayer. Pray and weep to find it out.
A dad stands tallest when he kneels to pray with his children
When the world pushes you to your knees, you are in the perfect position to pray, and a lot of kneeling keeps you in good shape. So pray more than you complain, and besides, Satan laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles at our prayer.
The reason why Christians in this day are at such a loss as to some things is that they are content with what comes from man's mouth, without searching and kneeling before God to know of Him the truth of things.
The Fruits of Kneeling
- Clarity: Time on your knees sharpens your focus and clarifies God's will.
- Resilience: It builds emotional and spiritual resilience (linking to your Growth post), allowing you to stand firm under pressure.
- Intimacy: It deepens your relationship with God beyond rules and into true, loving communion.
And come to think of it, every aspect of life—Career, Marriage, Investment, and Parenting, etc.—is sustained by the power found on our knees (Prayer).
Career: requires seeking divine wisdom, guidance, and favour to achieve success. It serves as a source of peace to overcome anxiety and stress, while fostering confidence, strength, and purpose in one's professional life.
Marriage: Prayer strengthens unity, builds intimacy, and invites God's grace to heal and guide the relationship. Couples who pray together often experience improved communication, greater humility, and a shared, Christ-centred purpose. It is a vital tool for navigating challenges, fostering deeper love, and keeping the marriage focused on shared values.
Investment: Prayer is considered a profound, high-return spiritual investment that builds a foundation for future blessings. Consistently praying for guidance and wisdom in financial matters helps align investments with ethical values, aiming for prosperity that allows for greater generosity and stewardship.
Parenting: Prayer is a foundational element, serving as a powerful tool to guide children toward faith, protect them spiritually, and support them through life's challenges. It strengthens the parent-child bond, models dependence on God, and allows parents to surrender control while trusting in God's guidance for their children's lives.
There’s great security and ultimate triumph in a life lived in surrendered dependence on God. When you get on your knees, you put the entire weight of heaven behind your life. The greatest victories are always those won in silence, on your knees.
